
A three-deck flat-bottomed tourist boat sank in San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz Island, USA, resulting in at least one confirmed death and two missing persons. Authorities have mobilized extensive search and rescue operations.
San Francisco fire officials reported that the boat carried a total of 19 passengers and crew. The emergency was reported at approximately 15:30 local time when the vessel was about 550 meters from Alcatraz Island. Upon arrival, rescuers found the boat capsized and nearly fully submerged.
Rescue teams managed to pull 16 people from the water; 13 were safe, while three were hospitalized for treatment. One victim received CPR but later died. Two others remain missing, with rescue efforts continuing using boats, helicopters, and divers.
Initially, authorities were alerted to a possible fire onboard, but the San Francisco Fire Department chief later stated there is no confirmed evidence of a fire. The cause of the capsizing and sinking is still under investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard and relevant agencies.
