US Launches Sixth Consecutive Night of Strikes on Iran, Killing at Least 8 Iran Retaliates by Attacking US Bases in Four Countries

The US launched its sixth consecutive night of attacks on Iran, killing at least 8 and injuring 20. Meanwhile, Iran claimed to have attacked US military bases and assets in four countries and announced that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war condition.

On 17 July 2026 GMT+7, foreign news agencies reported that the US continued its operations targeting southern Iran for the sixth straight night, resulting in at least 8 deaths and 20 injuries. Local officials stated that the attacks caused damage to several civilian infrastructure sites.

Reports indicated that damaged targets included bridges, airports, power plants, and railway stations, reflecting how the fighting has begun to impact public utilities and transportation systems in southern Iran.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed that US forces boarded a vessel in the Gulf of Oman to enforce the blockade against Iran, signaling an escalation of military pressure amid an ongoing conflict showing no signs of resolution.

Meanwhile, the Iranian military announced a retaliatory operation targeting US bases and assets in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Qatar. However, Qatari officials reported successfully intercepting the attacks, though one child was injured by missile debris following the interception.

At the same time, an Iranian military spokesperson declared that the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most vital oil shipping routes, will never return to its pre-war state, raising concerns that the crisis could affect global shipping and energy markets.
