Iran Reports 50 Deaths After U.S. Launches New Wave of Attacks

Iranian authorities disclosed that the death toll has risen to 50 since the United States began a new wave of attacks in early July, while Kuwait accused Iran of attacking a seawater desalination plant.

On Saturday, 18 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Iran's Ministry of Health revealed that at least 12 people died from U.S. attacks in the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths since the latest clashes began to at least 50.

Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Health, added that at least 500 people have been injured by U.S. attacks since 27 June, when the fragile regional ceasefire agreement first began to falter. Among the deceased, at least five were women and two were children.

Meanwhile, Qasem Garibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that the Tehran government has suspended its obligations under agreements previously made with the United States.

At the same time, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning that anyone attacking Iran would face retaliation with equivalent force, citing a passage from the Quran in their statement.

The U.S. military has carried out attacks on Iran for seven consecutive nights, while Iran has responded by deploying large waves of drones and missiles against various targets, expanding to countries hosting U.S. bases in the Middle East.

The deputy governor of Iran’s Hormozgan Province reported that the latest U.S. attacks on Friday night caused damage to seawater desalination plants and electrical facilities, leaving at least 20 villages without water supply.

On the other hand, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy revealed that Iran attacked and damaged a power plant and seawater desalination facility essential for providing drinking water in the region.
