U.S. authorities arrested Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate, two well-known influencer brothers, in Miami under a warrant for extradition to the United Kingdom, following British prosecutors charging them with 38 counts including rape, human trafficking, and sexual offenses. Both deny all allegations.
The U.S. federal court police office revealed that officials arrested 39-year-old Andrew Tate and 38-year-old Tristan Tate—famous influencers holding both U.S. and U.K. citizenships—in Miami, Florida last Saturday under a sealed warrant to proceed with extradition at the request of British authorities.
This arrest followed the UK Crown Prosecution Service's announcement requesting the brothers' extradition to face charges of jointly committing rape and human trafficking of multiple women between 2010 and 2017.
In a recent statement, the UK Crown Prosecution Service said that in addition to the previously disclosed charges from 2025 involving three victims, they have filed 38 additional charges related to four more victims. Officials stated that both Andrew and Tristan face charges of rape and human trafficking, while Andrew faces further charges including sexual exploitation and 19 counts involving child pornography and violent pornographic material.
The Tate brothers moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022 on charges of luring women for sexual assault. However, that Romanian case has not yet reached court due to legal issues and procedural delays. Last year, they were permitted to leave Romania and flew by private jet to Florida, U.S., where they were ultimately arrested.
Last year, a Romanian court allowed them to travel abroad, and they flew to Florida by private jet. Related sources indicated they are scheduled to appear in a federal court in Miami early next week to begin legal proceedings concerning extradition.
Joseph McBride, the brothers' attorney, disclosed that he has not yet been able to communicate with his clients but insisted the UK charges are defamatory and aimed at obstructing a defamation lawsuit the brothers filed in the U.S. He expressed confidence that the court will dismiss the case once all facts are considered.
Andrew Tate, aged 39, first gained wide recognition by participating in the British reality show “Big Brother” in 2016, before being expelled after a leaked video showed him physically assaulting a woman.
He later gained fame on social media by sharing content about wealth, masculinity, and ideas criticized as misogynistic, amassing over 10 million followers on the platform X, despite being banned from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for violating hate speech policies.
Throughout, the Tate brothers have denied allegations of rape, human trafficking, and violence against women, asserting that many criticized statements were taken out of context or made in jest.
Karina Thomas, assistant chief constable of Bedfordshire Police, the agency investigating the case, stated that the police will continue to fully pursue the prosecution, emphasizing that "there is no place for male violence against women and girls," and affirming ongoing commitment to victim protection and thorough investigation of all complaints.
