The U.S. Department of State stated in its alert that the security situation in the Middle East remains complex, with a possibility of an unexpected escalation of conflict. It urged Americans to closely monitor news and follow local officials' advice carefully.
The report also noted that U.S. embassies and consulates in the Middle East and other countries have previously been targeted. The Department warned that Iran-backed groups might attack U.S. interests, locations associated with the U.S., and American citizens worldwide.
This alert comes amid escalating tensions from ongoing hostilities between the U.S. and Iran, which have lasted several days and raised concerns that the conflict could expand beyond the Middle East region.
