Kaylee Hottle, a young actress famous for her role in the giant monster film Godzilla vs. Kong, died at just 19 years old in a car accident.
Foreign news agencies reported on 21 July 2026 that Kaylee Hottle, an American actress known for her role in the Godzilla vs. Kong film franchise, died in a car accident at the young age of 19.
Hottle, who was deaf, played "Jia," a young orphan with a significant role in the blockbuster film released in 2021, and reprised her role in the sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in 2024.
Her father, Joshua Hottle, posted a video on Facebook using American Sign Language (ASL) to confirm Kaylee's death.
Frederick County police in Maryland stated that the car Hottle was riding in lost control and crashed into a drainage pipe at about 2:50 a.m. local time on Tuesday. Officials believe the 19-year-old driver was speeding.
After the crash, Hottle suffered severe injuries and her heart stopped while being transported to the hospital. She was later confirmed dead. The 19-year-old driver was hospitalized with injuries described as "non-life-threatening," while a second passenger refused assistance at the scene.
The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle had studied, also shared the news with deep sorrow, stating, "Our hearts are with the family, friends, classmates, and everyone who knew and loved Kaylee during this very difficult time."
Additionally, the statement urged everyone to respect the Hottle family's privacy and refrain from speculation about the accident.
Warner Bros., the distributor of the popular monster films, also paid tribute to the young actress by posting a photo of her on the platform X.
