A tornado struck the state of Wisconsin in the United States, damaging numerous homes, uprooting trees, and leaving thousands of people without power. Meanwhile, the U.S. weather service confirmed the storm's presence through radar data.
The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) reported that the tornado occurred in Winnebago County, located about 145 kilometers northwest of Milwaukee.
Video footage from the area showed debris from metal sheets and wood scattered across the streets, while vehicles had to maneuver around the wreckage. Additionally, reports indicated heavy damage to a warehouse caused by the storm's strong winds.
Holly Kamba, a meteorologist with the NWS, stated that the agency received numerous damage reports from southern Outagamie County and eastern Winnebago County.
At approximately 12:25 p.m. local time, the storm moved across Lake Winnebago toward Fond du Lac County. Prior to this, the NWS had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area, anticipating significant damage.
Furthermore, the National Weather Service warned that severe weather would continue to affect the central, eastern, and southeastern parts of Wisconsin throughout Monday afternoon, with expected wind gusts exceeding 97 kilometers per hour, hail, and the potential for new tornadoes in some areas.
