Ukraine launched hundreds of drones to attack various locations across Russia, resulting in five deaths, multiple injuries, and a fire at another warehouse of a major Russian online retail company.
On Sunday, 2 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Russian local officials revealed that Ukraine sent drones to strike multiple areas nationwide, causing five deaths. The drones also targeted an industrial plant and another warehouse of Wildberries, a leading Russian online retailer.
Wildberries, Russia’s largest online marketplace often called the "Russian version of Amazon," has been a primary target of Ukrainian attacks, with its warehouses hit by Ukrainian drones more than 10 times in less than two weeks.
Ukraine stated that its strikes on Wildberries warehouses aim to weaken Moscow’s war capabilities, damage the economy, and raise public awareness of the consequences of the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense disclosed that the country’s air defense systems shot down 635 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over Crimea—which Russia seized from Ukraine—the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov. However, the ministry did not specify the total number of drones launched or how many successfully hit their targets.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 133 drones against Ukraine overnight, with 24 successfully striking targets. Later on Sunday, local officials reported that another Russian attack on the Ukrainian cities of Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv killed two civilians.
The latest Wildberries warehouse attacked is located in the Samara region, about 800 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border, causing a fire but no injuries or deaths.
At the same time, Roman Busargin, governor of Saratov region east of Samara, said Ukrainian drones struck residential buildings in the region, resulting in two deaths. The attacks also damaged civilian infrastructure in Engels and Saratov, the regional capital.
Olga Abramova, acting leader of the Udmurt Republic, located far to the northwest of Russia, reported that three civilians died and two were injured in Ukrainian drone attacks.
