On 7 August 2026, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported that Typhoon "Dolphin," classified as a Category 1 severe typhoon, is moving toward the southwest of the country near the islands between the Kyushu region and Okinawa Prefecture, with sustained winds reaching 144 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 198 kilometers per hour.
According to NHK, authorities have ordered nearly 260,000 people in Kagoshima and Okinawa Prefectures to evacuate in response to Typhoon Dolphin, which poses risks of strong winds capable of causing damage or partial building collapses. Additionally, there is a threat of continuous linear rain bands that could bring heavy rainfall, flash floods, and mudslides in multiple areas.
Reports indicate that over 500 flights have already been canceled. Toyota Motor Company announced a temporary suspension of production at nine plants on Friday to ensure employee safety and minimize the storm's impact.
