Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he does not accept Donald Trump's 15-point Gaza peace plan, emphasizing that Israeli troops will not withdraw from the territory until Hamas is genuinely disarmed.
On Sunday, 9 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's 15-point Gaza peace plan, stating that there will be no military withdrawal until Hamas is truly disarmed.
"Israel rejects this 15-point document," Netanyahu said during a cabinet meeting, adding that the Israeli military "will not withdraw any forces until Hamas is genuinely disarmed and will continue to prevent threats to our forces and citizens."
He also said he is currently discussing next steps with U.S. officials. "They have many ideas; some we accept, others we do not, but we know well how to stand firm on these issues," he added.
Earlier, Trump's Board of Peace announced in July that it had reached an agreement for the "complete disarmament" of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, which Trump hailed as a "major step toward lasting peace and security" with Hamas accepting the disarmament plan.
The plan includes establishing a Peace Board to oversee compliance with the agreement, including Hamas's disarmament, Israeli troop withdrawal, and Gaza's reconstruction.
However, Hamas has stated that the delivery of heavy weapons depends on Israel ending "all forms of aggression" and withdrawing its troops from Gaza first.
Meanwhile, Israel has continued its military attacks on Gaza since the initial ceasefire agreement was made in October 2025.
Analysts see it as unlikely Netanyahu will soften his position on this plan, as Israel faces a critical election in October amid pressure from far-right allies to hold a new cabinet vote to end the 15-point plan.
