Hundreds of paddleboarders dressed in bright and fancy costumes floated down Moscow's Yauza River in Russia on Sunday to join the "SUP Carnival," a colorful paddleboarding festival.
The atmosphere was lively, with participants wearing a variety of outfits, including traditional Russian costumes, creative ideas like kebab vendor attire, mermaid costumes, and masks of Babayaga, a famous Russian folk character.
In addition to the paddleboard procession along the river, live bands played and cheerleaders on bridges added color and cheers for participants along the route.
A couple dressed as mermaids revealed they liked the idea and chose the mermaid theme because they liked the color blue. They started by making mermaid tails and gradually added details until the costumes were complete.
Anna Kazanova, a participant, said that today's society needs more positive thinking, organized community gatherings, and themed activities because they inspire people and encourage them to think and take action.
Another participant, Mikhail Bespalov, said that such events are important because they bring people together, strengthen family relationships, and build friendships. He expressed his happiness about the event being held.
The SUP Carnival featured many unusual and creative sights, including paddleboarders dressed in traditional Russian and Native American costumes, as well as those who decorated their boards with models of "Swallow's Nest," a famous tourist castle in Crimea.
The event highlighted the popularity of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) as a sport that has been combined with recreational activities and community gatherings, creating a fun atmosphere for participants on Moscow's Yauza River.
