A startling incident caused alarm among police and concerned citizens in Australia when a suitcase was found by the roadside near the village of Oallen in southern New South Wales. Initially, it was suspected to contain a murdered human body. However, after over 20 hours of detailed forensic examination, it was revealed that the contents were a sex doll with a nearly lifelike human appearance.
New South Wales Police confirmed that the object found inside the suitcase left by the roadside in Oallen, near Goulburn in southern New South Wales, was not human remains but a highly realistic sex doll, following a thorough forensic investigation by medical examiners.
The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, 9 August, when two members of the public discovered a suitcase in a forested area beside Wollongong Road, near Oallen Ford Road, approximately 61 kilometers from Goulburn, and reported it to police, believing it might contain a woman's body.
Officers from the Hume Police District responded to the scene and found a suitcase containing an object resembling a human body. The police secured the area and forensic officers conducted an initial examination at the site before collecting the suitcase and transporting its contents to a forensic laboratory for further analysis.
Initially, officers could not confirm whether the object was human due to the doll's extremely realistic appearance. Subsequent forensic tests confirmed that the contents were an adult sex doll dressed in clothes, with hair and pierced nostrils. The doll also had marks resembling bruises and abrasions, which initially led to the belief it was a human body.
Hume Police District Superintendent Linda Bradbury affirmed that officers felt no regret over the investigative process, emphasizing that the police followed proper procedures, especially in preserving the integrity of the crime scene to maintain the credibility of the investigation.
Bradbury explained that officers must treat any discovery as critical evidence until proven otherwise. She noted that forensic officers began examining the item on Sunday but needed additional testing to confirm the findings.
Previously, the discovery of the suitcase prompted police to initiate an investigation as a potential death-related case, attracting significant media and public attention. However, police confirmed the following day that the item was not human, leading to the closure of the inquiry.
Bradbury also stated that the two individuals who found the suitcase made the right decision in reporting it, as they genuinely believed they had found a human body. She added that the incident was distressing for both finders and that police would follow up to inform them of the forensic results confirming it was not a corpse.
Oallen is a small village on the Shoalhaven River within the Southern Tablelands region, located about 109 kilometers from Canberra and approximately 250 kilometers from Sydney.
