Reports stated the ferry departed from Padangbai Port on Bali Island, bound for Lembar Port in West Nusa Tenggara Province. Bali rescue unit chief, I Gusti Lanang Wiswananda, revealed the fire occurred during the journey to Lombok.
Muhammad Hariadi, head of the West Nusa Tenggara rescue unit, said the incident took place in the Lombok Strait. Over 200 personnel were deployed to assist and evacuate all passengers. Passenger lists indicated 114 passengers and 17 crew onboard. Officials at Padangbai Port confirmed 33 passengers have been evacuated, and local media reported all passengers are safe.
There are currently no reports on the cause of the fire. Authorities continue to assist those on board and monitor the situation.
