Hayden Panettiere, former famous child actress and star of the hit series Heroes and Nashville, died suddenly at just 36 years old. Her passing has deeply saddened and shocked her family as well as fans worldwide. The family has not yet officially revealed the cause of death.

Hayden Panettiere, known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, has died at age 36. Her father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed the news to ABC News and requested privacy for the family during this time of loss.

Her father said the family is deeply saddened by Hayden’s passing, describing her as a person full of energy and light who brought love and happiness to those who knew her, including millions of viewers worldwide. No details about the cause of death have been disclosed.

Panettiere rose to fame playing Claire Bennet, a young woman with special powers who could miraculously heal wounds, in NBC's sci-fi series Heroes, which aired for four seasons starting in 2006. She gained even greater fame portraying Juliet Barnes, a country singer, in the drama series Nashville from 2012 to 2018.

She also appeared in several films including I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009), Scream 4 (2011), and Scream VI (2023), as well as the television movie Amanda Knox released in 2025. She played Kirby Reed in the Scream film franchise.

In May, Panettiere published a memoir titled This Is Me: A Reckoning, candidly revealing her life story, including growing up in the spotlight from childhood, struggles with addiction, postpartum depression, and personal experiences that affected her life and career in entertainment.

She revealed that some personal experiences resembled the storyline of her Nashville character Juliet, especially regarding postpartum depression and alcohol dependence. However, she emphasized that in writing her book, she aimed to share her story without harming or blaming others.

In her personal life, Panettiere dated Ukrainian former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko during 2009-2011 and 2013-2018. They had a daughter named Kaya, born in 2014.

She also faced a major family loss when her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, died in February 2023 at age 28 from complications related to an aortic valve condition.

Panettiere was born on 21 August 1989 in Palisades, New York. She entered show business at just 11 months old, first appearing in a toy commercial before acting in television and films as a child, including One Life to Live, Guiding Light, Malcolm in the Middle, The Object of My Affection, A Bug’s Life, and Message in a Bottle.

One of her most memorable and beloved roles was in the 2000 film Remember the Titans, where she played Cheryl Yoast at only 10 years old.

Throughout her career, Panettiere received nominations from several awards including the Golden Globe, Critics Choice Television Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and People’s Choice Awards for her work in Nashville.
