Prince Harry and Meghan Prepare to Move Back to the United Kingdom

British media report that Prince Harry and his family are preparing to move back to the United Kingdom after relocating to the United States in 2020 and have hardly returned to England since then.

The BBC reported that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, along with their family, are planning to relocate from the United States back to the United Kingdom later this month and will live in a private residence outside the royal estate located outside London.

The BBC further reported that their son and daughter, 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet, have been registered to start school in England this September.

King Charles III was briefed about this move last Sunday, and currently, there are no plans for Prince Harry or Meghan to resume royal duties or hold senior royal status.

The Sussex family, including their son and daughter, visited King Charles at Highgrove House in July, but it is understood that the relocation was not discussed at that time.

The BBC understands that King Charles only learned of the relocation plans last weekend but is pleased to have more opportunities for private meetings with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's family. Prince William and Princess Kate have also been informed of the plans.

However, there will be no official change in the status of Prince Harry and Meghan; they will remain private individuals after announcing their step back and relinquishment of senior royal membership in January 2020 to live independently in the United States.

This decision stems from pressure from the British tabloid media, online harassment, internal family conflicts, and Prince Harry's view that he did not receive adequate support from the palace.

Relations between Prince Harry and the British royal family have been tense since then, and the July meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla marked a significant development and the first time in four years that King Charles personally met his two grandchildren.

Prince Harry and Meghan have not traveled to the United Kingdom together since 2022, when they attended Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

Security concerns for Prince Harry and Meghan have been a persistent issue, with the July visit nearly not happening due to the Sussex Duke's police protection request being denied.

In 2025, Prince Harry lost an appeal regarding the level of security protection he and his family should receive while in the United Kingdom.

Previously, Prince Harry said security concerns were an obstacle preventing him from traveling to the UK with his wife and family. It remains unclear what prompted his decision to move back this time.
