Iran Declares The World Acknowledges Our Victory, Calls for End to War with US

The President of Iran has called for the war between his country and the United States to end, stating that the world acknowledges Iran's victory over the US.

Foreign news agencies reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday, 21 Aug 2026 GMT+7, that the war between the US and Iran should end because the world has accepted Tehran’s victory in this conflict.

"The whole world has recognized our victory, and the US is becoming despised," he said, according to IRNA, the official Iranian news agency.

This statement followed US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Wednesday that his administration would launch "the most severe economic operation ever" against Iran, while negotiations to reopen the shipping routes at the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran had blocked, have stalled.

"Smuggling oil, exchanging assets, transferring cash, currency exchange institutions, ship registrations, and agency companies—all must stop immediately. You know who you are," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"This will be 'economic D-Day,' and we want all our allies to stand with the United States to isolate and defeat the threat from Iran," Trump added.

Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is expected to reveal details of the new economic sanctions package on Monday.

"It’s a double-layered offensive. We have a naval blockade, and we’re about to impose the strictest sanctions in history," Yellen told CNBC on Thursday. "It will work in Iran, and we are going to bring down this regime."

At the same time, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the US sanctions plan, saying it is merely the Trump administration’s way to divert attention from its own domestic cost-of-living issues.

"What is called 'economic D-Day' is just a distraction from America’s own crisis—record-high debt and soaring interest burdens," Araghchi said. "Persisting with failed policies will only lead to further defeat and deepen Iranian resentment. US economic terrorism threatens the global economy and sovereignty worldwide."
