A wildfire in Nevada, USA, is spreading rapidly, having burned around 53 square kilometers. Recently, the fire has approached residential areas, burning some homes and prompting the evacuation of over 42,000 people.
Nevada officials continue to monitor the Hawk Fire, noting that about 45,000 residents remain in the evacuation warning zone. They urge people to be ready to leave immediately and prepare for extended periods away from home to allow rescue and emergency teams to operate effectively.
Darin Balam, Sheriff of Washoe County, urged residents to closely follow official updates and prepare emergency bags containing medications, valuables, and essential items for evacuation.
Shane Akerson from the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reported that three civilians and three emergency personnel have sustained injuries from the wildfire incident.
Currently, firefighting efforts remain challenging due to shifting wind directions, causing the fire to spread in multiple directions and complicating suppression efforts.
Officials confirmed that several structures have been damaged or destroyed by the fire, and assessments of the extent of property damage are ongoing.
Authorities continue to work to control the Hawk Fire while closely monitoring the situation, as the wildfire still poses a threat to communities in Reno and surrounding areas.
