International news agencies reported on 24 Aug 2026 that warehouses of "Ozon," Russia's second-largest e-commerce provider, located in Krasnodar, Dagestan, Stavropol, and Adygea regions, were heavily attacked by Ukrainian drones, causing fires and multiple injuries.
Ukraine is broadening its economic targets in Russia. In recent weeks, it has launched drone strikes on warehouses of "Wildberries," Russia's largest online retailer, claiming the attacks aim to destroy dual-use goods and disrupt supply routes supporting the Russian military.
Ozon and Wildberries are considered Russia's equivalents of Amazon and are used by 85-90% of Russia's working-age population. These attacks directly impact everyday life, especially in remote areas relying on online orders for essential goods.
Since both companies operate as marketplaces connecting small vendors, damage to warehouses also directly affects numerous small-scale traders across Russia.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Ukraine is opening a "Pandora's box" by targeting economic assets and affirmed that Russia will respond decisively.
Russia's Ministry of Defense disclosed that three children aged 13, 15, and 16 died in Krasnodar region after Ukrainian drone strikes, with six additional children wounded.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to target infrastructure and warehouses in Ukraine, including attacks on food and energy depots in Odesa, further escalating the economic dimension of the conflict ahead of this winter.
