A humanoid robot from China has made history again by setting a new world record in the 100-meter sprint, completing it in just 8.86 seconds. This broke its own record of 9.39 seconds set three days ago, which had already surpassed the human world record of 9.58 seconds held by Usain Bolt.
At the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games held in Beijing, this Chinese robot demonstrated remarkable technological progress by accelerating to break its own record once more.
However, an exciting moment occurred after the finish line when the world champion robot collided forcefully with a safety barrier, fell, and emitted small sparks and smoke from its waist area. Despite this, it secured victory and set a new record flawlessly.
This competition served as a platform to showcase China's rapid technological capabilities amid a technology rivalry with the United States. The event featured over 2,000 robots competing in 51 categories, including outdoor sports such as sprinting, hopping, ping pong, and ballroom dancing, as well as real-world simulation tasks like household chores, hotel services, and emergency disaster relief.
