Foreign news agencies reported that on Monday, 7 Sep 2026 GMT+7, the Israeli military launched a new wave of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, with shells hitting the village of Kfar Roummane. The strikes resulted in at least 12 deaths amid tensions threatening to break the ceasefire agreement.
The first wave of attacks destroyed residential buildings, killing 11 people, including two children and four women, with eight others injured. The second wave struck an emergency response vehicle, killing one paramedic and injuring two more.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed the strikes were in retaliation against Hezbollah, which had sent drones to attack Israeli soldiers. The targets were Hezbollah's infrastructure and members transporting weapons. The IDF stated it is investigating reports of civilian casualties.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed dissatisfaction with the attacks, warning that the escalation threatens the June ceasefire agreement and called on the international community to pressure Israel to halt the strikes.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health condemned the killing of children and medical personnel as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
