A customer in Hong Kong ordered satay beef pasta priced at HK$48 from a restaurant in Kwai Chung, only to find a newborn pink hairless mouse wriggling in the sauce. Authorities are now rushing to investigate.

According to reports, the customer ordered pasta with satay beef sauce priced at HK$48 (about 200 baht) from Wa Jer Restaurant. Upon opening the container, they found a small pink hairless mouse wriggling in the satay sauce.
A video posted online by the customer showed the creature, whose eyes were not fully open, moving its arms and legs and appearing to struggle to breathe inside the food container. The clip quickly spread and shocked viewers.
The customer filed a complaint with Hong Kong's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department immediately. Officials inspected the restaurant and seized the suspect food for analysis. Upon inspection, the hygiene conditions of the establishment were found unsatisfactory. An investigation was opened covering multiple areas including food preparation, packaging, storage, and delivery.
The restaurant operator, located in the Wa Sing Industrial Building on Wa Sing Road, expressed shock at the incident but refused to comment on whether it was a setup or harassment. The operator stated the restaurant has been open for over a year without prior issues involving pests in the food, although occasional rats have been seen in the area. They also affirmed the restaurant undergoes a major cleaning every month.
Hong Kong authorities continue to investigate to determine how the mouse ended up in the food and at what stage—from preparation through to delivery to the customer.
