Democratic Texas Lawmakers Criticize Trump After $5,000 Cash Payout Proposal

Democratic members of the Texas legislature strongly criticized Donald Trump after he announced a plan to distribute $5,000 dividends to every American adult if the Republican Party maintains its majority in the House following the midterm elections.

Trump announced this idea during a Republican Party meeting preparing for the midterm elections, held in Dallas, Texas, claiming that the United States' economic success would allow the government to pay these funds to citizens, comparing it to corporate dividend payments.

However, the plan could cost over $1 trillion and has been questioned for its feasibility, as the U.S. is currently facing an annual budget deficit approaching $1.8 trillion.

Trump had previously proposed a similar dividend payment to Americans, then suggesting $2,000 each and stating it would not require congressional approval.

Following Trump's remarks, Democratic representatives opposed the proposal. Representative Madeleine Dean called Trump "unstable and delusional," while Representative Robert Garcia accused Trump of being known for lying and affirmed that such a dividend would never happen.

The $5,000 payout proposal comes as Trump seeks new ways to help Republicans retain their seats in the midterm elections, a period when the president's party typically risks losing seats in the House, especially as his approval ratings have sharply declined.
