Prince Harry and Meghan Markle transferred their two children to a new school after only two days, as their security team was concerned about the long and heavily trafficked commute from home to school.
The family of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has once again drawn attention after confirming that their son, 7-year-old Prince Archie, and daughter, 5-year-old Princess Lilibet, had to change schools after attending their new school for only two days.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed on 14 September that the decision came after discussions with the family's security team, considering the practical suitability of the commute between home and school.
Reports indicated that the distance from home to school, combined with heavy local traffic, caused the security team to express concerns about the children’s travel safety.
However, Prince Harry’s family emphasized that the school transfer did not reflect any issue with the previous school's quality. The parents remain grateful to the teachers and staff for their love, care, and attention toward the children.
This move occurred shortly after Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children returned to live in England following six years in California, USA. Their new residence and the children’s new school details remain confidential for privacy and security reasons.
Security remains a sensitive issue for Prince Harry, who has criticized the UK government’s decision to end automatic police protection for him and his family, unlike other senior royal members. Currently, security arrangements are made on a case-by-case basis.
Meanwhile, the UK government is reviewing Prince Harry’s security measures. Their spokesperson also confirmed that Meghan’s security is being reconsidered for the first time since they left the UK.
