Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced plans to convert the former Pochentong Airport site in Phnom Penh into “Pochentong Park,” while preserving the original passenger terminal and control tower buildings.
On 16 September 2026, Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, revealed plans to develop the old Pochentong Airport area in Phnom Penh into a large public space for relaxation and activities, named “Pochentong Park.”
During the opening ceremony of the Royal Hospital Me on Wednesday, 16 September, the Cambodian leader said the development project will preserve the historically significant passenger terminal and control tower of the old Pochentong Airport. It will also add green spaces and facilities for walking, running, cycling, and exercise, as well as areas for public events.
Reports indicate that in the future, the site could host marathon runs, exhibitions, and concerts. It may also see the development of cafés, parking, and other services through private leasing. The Prime Minister emphasized that the land will remain state-owned, with the project aiming to preserve Pochentong’s unique identity and history while creating a new recreational space for Phnom Penh residents.
