Singapore Airlines won the World's Best Airline award for 2026 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards in London, England. This is the sixth time the Singapore national carrier has received this award.
The award is based on a global survey of more than 24.8 million travelers who evaluated over 300 airlines from September 2025 to August 2026. Skytrax, the organizer, describes this award, established in 1999, as the "Oscars" of the aviation industry.
Goh Choon Phong, Group CEO of Singapore Airlines, expressed gratitude to customers for their trust and support, affirming the airline's commitment to delivering world-class travel experiences. He added that the award reflects the dedication and professionalism of staff in maintaining high service and operational standards.
Scoot, Singapore Airlines' low-cost carrier, won the "Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline" award for the sixth consecutive year. It also ranked second globally among low-cost airlines, behind Malaysia's AirAsia and ahead of Spain's Vueling Airlines.
Leslie Tang, CEO of Scoot, stated that the award highlights the airline's commitment to providing passengers with a comfortable, reliable, and seamless travel experience. He emphasized ongoing efforts to innovate and continuously enhance customer experience.
Together, Singapore Airlines and Scoot set a record with a combined passenger count of 42.4 million in fiscal year 2025-2026, a 7.7% increase from 39.4 million the previous year.
However, the airline group’s financial performance faced pressure from rising costs. In the first quarter of 2026, Singapore Airlines reported a net loss of SGD 76 million, with net fuel costs rising 78.5%, amid Middle East conflicts and increased losses from Air India.
Additionally, supply chain challenges forced Singapore Airlines to postpone plans to install new first and business class seats on Airbus A350 aircraft to the first quarter of 2027, delayed from the originally planned second quarter of 2026.
