Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, told reporters he feels fantastic to be back in England after living in California, USA, for six years.
Prince Harry gave an interview to Canada’s CTV television, saying he feels “great” to be back on English soil. He noted that his son and daughter are happy with their schooling, and this return allows him to fully focus on preparing for the Invictus Games to be held in Birmingham next February.
When asked why the family decided to move back to the United Kingdom, Prince Harry replied there were “many reasons” but did not provide further details.
Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from senior royal duties and started a new life in the U.S. in 2020. They permanently returned to England in August, reportedly living at their private estate outside London in the Cotswolds.
However, their son Prince Archie, aged 7, and daughter Princess Lilibet, aged 5, had to switch to a new school just days after classes began due to safety concerns during their school commute.
Reports say the Sussexes’ personal security team expressed concerns about the distance and heavy traffic on the route to the school.
While Prince Harry’s activities mainly focus on the Invictus Games, his and Meghan’s return to the UK has been marked by tension with the royal family. Meghan has kept a low profile, appearing publicly only a few times.
Earlier reports revealed the couple were surprised by a royal letter approved by King Charles III, which reiterated their status as “private citizens” and provided guidelines to government and military officials.
Meanwhile, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), responsible for decisions on royal family security measures, is reviewing whether police protection funded by taxpayers should be extended to the Sussex family.
