Taylor Swift, the 36-year-old American singer-songwriter, set two new Spotify records in 2026 following the release of her expanded album "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," which features four new songs: "Patient Zero," "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding," and "Babylon."
According to Variety, "Patient Zero" set the record for the most streams by a female artist in one day on Spotify in 2026, while Taylor Swift herself also set the record for the highest one-day streams by a female artist this year.
Swift revealed on Instagram the reason for releasing the Encore album, explaining that after "The Life of a Showgirl" set the record for the biggest first-week debut in history, she traveled to Sweden to celebrate the success with Max Martin and Shellback, her producers and collaborators.
However, instead of stopping at celebration, the three continued working in the studio and produced four new songs. Swift told fans these songs arose from her gratitude for the support and celebration from her fans.
One of the most notable songs is "Cleveland!", named after the hometown of Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs American football player and Swift's husband, whom she married in July.
In the song, Swift speaks about her relationship with Kelce, calling him "the love of my life," and the lyrics mention Kelce taking her to visit Cleveland and introducing her to the neighborhood known as The Heights.
At one point in the song, Swift sings that she doesn't need someone loved by the whole world, just someone who doesn't find her unbearably annoying—and she has found that person.
The song "Patient Zero" addresses comforting a new love of a former partner, with some fans speculating that the lyrics might relate to a time Swift supported Sophie Turner after Turner's split from Joe Jonas in 2023; however, this is only fan speculation.
Meanwhile, "Pink Clouding" is a reflective song where Swift looks back on past relationships with regret over how she treated a good ex-partner, expressing a desire to apologize for what happened.
In "Babylon," Swift reflects on past love and the regret felt when a relationship ends, metaphorically realizing the significance of those moments only after they have been lost.
