Hun Manet Approves Minimum Wage Increase for Textile Workers to $212 per Month Starting 1 Jan 2027

Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has ordered an increase in the minimum wage for workers in textiles, garments, footwear, and bags to $212, approximately 7,100 baht, starting 1 January 2027.

On 30 September 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet approved raising the minimum wage for workers in the textile, garment, footwear, travel goods, and bag industries to $212 per month, approximately 848,000 riel and about 7,100 baht, effective from 1 January 2027.

Reports state this wage adjustment follows the National Council's final minimum wage meeting on Wednesday, 30 September, where two proposals were presented: the employers proposed $210 per month (approximately 840,000 riel), while the labor unions proposed $225 (around 900,000 riel).

After tripartite negotiations, the $210 proposal received 47 out of 51 votes. Hun Manet then approved an additional $2 increase to support workers' livelihoods, raising the minimum wage from $210 in 2026 to $212 in 2027.

Beyond the base wage, workers will receive benefits including a monthly travel and accommodation allowance of $7 (about 28,000 riel), an attendance bonus of $10 (around 40,000 riel), and a daily food allowance of 2,000 riel or one free meal for voluntary overtime. Workers with 2–11 years of service will receive seniority pay ranging from $2 to $11 per month (approximately 8,000–44,000 riel).

Combining the base wage with benefits and seniority pay, workers' total monthly income could reach approximately $229–$240 (about 916,000–960,000 riel), equivalent to around 7,700–8,100 baht or more, depending on eligibility for various benefits.
