China held grand National Day celebrations in various areas on 1 Oct 2026. In Nanchang city, Jiangxi Province, a fleet of 5,000 drones flew over the Ganjiang River, creating a spectacular light show in the night sky.

The approximately 45-minute show included fireworks, colorful light displays, and a large drone performance. The drones formed various shapes, from fighter jets to robots kicking a soccer ball, airplanes, and ancient horse-drawn carriages. They also formed the message "2026 Nanchang National Day Fireworks Evening."

Many people gathered along both banks of the Ganjiang River to watch the show, with many recording the special moments on their mobile phones amid the festive National Day atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong also held grand celebrations with fireworks launched over Victoria Harbour on the night of 1 Oct. The sky above the harbour was brightly lit with continuous fireworks throughout the show.

Organizers said the Hong Kong fireworks display lasted about 23 minutes, with a total of 30,000 fireworks launched. Large crowds occupied streets and walkways around the harbour to watch, with numerous police officers maintaining order.

1 Oct 2026 marked the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. China held celebrations across many parts of the country during the extended National Day holiday.
