Background of Flydubai Co-Pilot Reveals Social Media Posts of Terrorist Leaders Previously Fired by Oman National Airline

Foreign media reveal the background of the deranged pilot who assaulted the Flydubai co-captain, finding that the perpetrator was previously dismissed from Oman’s national airline due to adherence to extremist ideology.

The perpetrator has been identified as Hamam Al-Hammami, an Omani national born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to an Omani father and Syrian mother. His LinkedIn profile shows he worked for Oman Air for seven years before moving to Royal Air Maroc, and only recently joined Flydubai eight months ago.

Local diplomatic sources state that while working at Oman Air, he was removed from the flight training program over concerns about extremist views and was reassigned to a different position. This incident raises significant questions about international airlines’ employee background screening standards.

Posted a mysterious clip threatening killing and beheading, along with images of Al-Qaeda leaders.

Just nine hours after the in-flight disturbance, Al-Hammami’s LinkedIn and Instagram accounts posted two mysterious videos and images in quick succession. It remains unclear whether he posted them himself or if they were scheduled in advance.

The first is a video from the cockpit of a Boeing 737 Max 8 showing zoomed footage of Israeli airlines El Al and Arkia planes. At the end of the clip, images of Ayman al-Zawahiri, former Al-Qaeda leader, and Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, the 2009 suicide bomber who killed seven CIA officers, are edited in.

Additionally, there is an AI-generated image linking three important religious sites in Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem, accompanied by stirring poetry about fighting for dignity and fearlessness in the face of death.

Analysis of his old Twitter account, which posted over 3,000 messages during 2021–2022 via AI Semantic Search, reveals Al-Hammami held extreme religious views and exhibited clear misogynistic behavior.

He posted complaints about difficulties finding a wife because he required women to wear the niqab and quit working after marriage, conditions all women refused until his mother informed them he was a pilot, which convinced them to agree. He also criticized workplaces where men and women mixed, calling them places that brainwash and destroy women's purity.

This incident raises critical security questions since Oman does not recognize Israel. Why was an Omani pilot permitted to operate flights bound for Tel Aviv? Israeli security agencies—Shin Bet, Mossad, the military, and the Ministry of Transport—have joined forces to investigate the pilot’s career path and security clearance.

Meanwhile, the UAE Attorney General has officially launched an investigation into whether the in-flight attack constitutes a premeditated terrorist act.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed he agreed with the UAE president to send Israeli officials to participate in interrogating the suspect, who is currently detained in Saudi Arabia, where the plane made its emergency landing.
