12-Year-Old U.S. Girl Dies from Stray Bullet in Parking Dispute Shooting

A 12-year-old girl in the United States was killed by a stray bullet after two men drew guns and fired at each other during a dispute over a parking spot, with several others also wounded.

Foreign news agencies reported, citing Baltimore police in the United States, that two men fought over a parking space in a public park before drawing firearms and shooting at each other, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old girl by stray bullet. Several others were also injured.

The incident took place after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 3 Oct 2026, EDT. At the time, children were playing American football nearby. Besides the girl, police found a woman with a gunshot wound and two men who were hospitalized with injuries believed related to the shooting.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said at a press conference that police are currently searching for at least two suspects.

"What we know is that two cowardly men got into a fight," Worley said. "They both opened fire, and in the crossfire, the young 12-year-old girl, likely there to watch American football, was shot and killed."

Worley stated that the girl (whose name police have not released) was not the intended target. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Three others sustained injuries that are not life-threatening.

Authorities are intensively investigating the shooting and have asked witnesses to come forward with information.

Worley added that it is still unclear how many shots were fired in total.

"Two grown men fought, and now a 12-year-old child is gone," Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said at a news briefing. "We should never have to say something like this. What happened here today is one of the most horrific things I have ever seen in my life."
