US Removes Kimberly Guilfoyle from Ambassador Post in Greece Amid Corruption Allegations

Kimberly Guilfoyle has resigned as the US Ambassador to Greece after facing heavy pressure over allegations of bribery and misconduct in her diplomatic role.

On Tuesday, 13 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Kimberly Guilfoyle announced her resignation as US Ambassador to Greece following a White House request after reports surfaced accusing her of offering access to senior government officials in exchange for help paying off credit card debt.

“Although my tenure as ambassador may be ending, my commitment to President Donald Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never waver,” she said on X, denying all allegations and affirming she will “vigorously defend her reputation.”

White House spokesperson Katie Zacarri confirmed at a daily briefing, “We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign,” adding, “She has been a valuable team asset, and we wish her well.”

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump told reporters about the matter, “She will no longer be there. I don’t like what I’ve read,” having previously admitted he was considering her dismissal due to dissatisfaction with the situation.

Guilfoyle is accused of soliciting bribes and misconduct in office. Young businessman Eric Deeters told CBS News that in July 2025, Guilfoyle asked him to transfer $100,000 to cover her outstanding credit card balance.

Deeters described the request as a form of “paying for privileges,” expecting to gain meetings and coordination with senior Trump administration officials such as the Attorney General and the IRS Commissioner.

Additionally, The Wall Street Journal reported that last January, Guilfoyle boasted about a Greek billionaire covering her luxury travel expenses and expressed frustration over being excluded from an Eric Trump dinner event at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
