Kim Yo-jong, sister of the North Korean leader, warned of new countermeasures along the South Korean border and plans to prepare propaganda loudspeakers after threatening to resume broadcasts within this month.
On 22 Oct 2026 GMT+7, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported that Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, warned that North Korea will prepare new countermeasures along the border with South Korea and ready anti-South Korean propaganda loudspeakers to be operational within days.
Kim Yo-jong stated in a declaration released by North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) that the new measures will enter a state of readiness along the southern border, with propaganda loudspeakers prepared for use. She also confirmed that North Korea will continue its project to strengthen the southern border, saying the project will proceed according to government objectives and claiming that permanent border fortification will reduce the risk of military clashes between the two Koreas and help resolve various complex issues.
This warning came one day after she announced that North Korea would resume loudspeaker broadcasts of propaganda toward South Korea by late October.
