Yotsuya Station in Tokyo, Japan, has two new employees—goats tasked with helping remove weeds growing uncontrollably at the station, with plans for them to work until December or until the grass is gone.
These two unusual new staff members are attracting considerable attention in Japan after Yotsuya Station, located in central Tokyo, introduced two goats to manage overgrown weeds around the station, replacing the use of lawnmowers.
The goats, named "Nagi" and "Pokke," were deployed at the start of October, according to East Japan Railway Company (JR East), following a station staff proposal to use goats for weed control.
Since then, station staff have taken on the additional responsibility of caring for the goats, while passengers and passersby have shown interest, stopping to watch and photograph the four-legged weed removal workers with delight.
Reports state the station plans to keep the goats until December or until the weeds in the area are completely eaten, making this a charming and creative initiative in Tokyo that turns green space maintenance into an engaging attraction.
