Two Philippine military training aircraft collided midair and crashed, resulting in the deaths of all four pilots onboard. These planes are of the same model that has been involved in multiple crashes over the past few years.
On Saturday, 24 Oct 2026 GMT+7, the Philippine military revealed that two Air Force training aircraft collided midair and crashed during flight exercises at an air base south of Manila, killing all four pilots.
The Philippine Air Force stated in a release that the air accident occurred last Friday involving two SF-260 aircraft during training at Fernando Air Base in Batangas province. There were no reports of other injuries or deaths from this incident.
Following the accident, the Philippine Air Force temporarily suspended flights of all SF-260 training aircraft pending an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Earlier in May, an SF-260 training plane crashed in mountainous northern Philippines, killing two pilots. Another SF-260 TP Marchetti also crashed during training in 2023, resulting in two fatalities.
The Philippine military previously used SF-260 aircraft in airstrikes in Marawi City in the south for several months after ISIS-aligned militants seized the area in 2017.
