Ukrainian authorities revealed that the Starlink internet connection has become stable again after previously being speed-limited, as Ukrainian and Russian forces continue fierce counterattacks.
On 24 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Yevhenii Komar, Ukraine's Defense Minister, confirmed that the Starlink satellite internet signal has returned to stability and full operation at 400 kilometers per hour, after speed restrictions had impacted various Ukrainian military operations.
Previously, the Ukrainian military reported that Starlink's signal speed was limited to no more than 160 kilometers per hour, causing Ukrainian weapons and drones moving faster than this speed to lose connection immediately, severely affecting battlefield missions.
Ukraine accused U.S. President Donald Trump of ordering Elon Musk to restrict Starlink usage to pressure Ukraine into halting attacks on Russian oil refineries. Initially, Trump denied this but later stated that Musk had "restored the signal" for Ukraine.
Relations between the U.S. and Ukraine have worsened over recent weeks after Donald Trump partially exempted sanctions on Russia and reached a deal to import Russian diesel to lower fuel prices domestically before the midterm elections next month, drawing strong criticism from Ukraine and Europe.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky added that besides the Starlink issue, the U.S. also threatened to suspend intelligence sharing if Ukraine did not stop attacking oil refineries, allegations that the Trump administration has also denied.
Regarding the fighting, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated it shot down 616 Ukrainian drones across various regions, including the Crimea Peninsula occupied by Russia, where local authorities have restricted electricity and water usage, citing drone attacks as the cause.
Meanwhile, Ukraine reported that Russia conducted 88 airstrikes using 309 guided bombs and 10,270 suicide drones last Friday.
Ukraine also claimed that within the past 24 hours, they successfully attacked missile parts factories, chemical plants, and fighter jets at military airports deep inside Russian territory.
