King Khalid Airport in Riyadh Partially Reopens Amid Continued Houthi Attacks

King Khalid Airport in Riyadh has partially resumed services after being heavily attacked two weeks ago, while the Houthi group continues launching missiles and drones.

On Sunday, 25 Oct 2026 GMT+7, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, began partially reopening domestic and international flights such as those from Dubai, Paris, and Cairo, after a two-week closure due to attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Data from the flight tracking website Flightradar24 showed only a small number of flights departing from the airport, with most flights still canceled.

The airport closure severely impacted Saudi Arabia, forcing the postponement of a global investment conference to 2027, as well as cancellation, delays, or relocation of major events including the Dakar Rally and several other significant activities.

Meanwhile, the Houthi group claimed they attacked key targets in Saudi Arabia within the past 24 hours, including three airports, energy infrastructure, oil pipelines, and airbases.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi group, warned airlines and passengers that Riyadh airport "remains unsafe" and is a "military target," adding that Saudi authorities would be responsible for any consequences if the airport resumes operations.

The Saudi-led coalition reported intercepting multiple cruise missiles and drones aimed at Riyadh and southern cities such as Khamis Mushait. However, there were reports of two injuries from missile debris in southern areas, along with damage to buildings and vehicles.

The Houthis stated that within the past 24 hours, Saudi F-15 fighter jets and Typhoon aircraft launched over 56 airstrikes and missile attacks on various provinces in Yemen.
