A shooting near the Florida A&M University stadium left 11 people injured, including several minors. Police are urgently searching for the suspect and investigating the motive.
Foreign news agencies reported on 25 Oct 2026 that a shooting occurred on Perry Street near Bragg Memorial Stadium of Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida, on the night of Saturday, 24 Oct local time.
The incident resulted in 11 people being shot and injured, including six minors and an 11-year-old child. No fatalities have been reported. Additionally, the grandmother of one victim was injured while trying to flee the scene.
By Sunday morning, doctors had cleared five of the injured to return home. Six others remain hospitalized, with one in critical condition.
The shooting occurred just hours after an American football alumni homecoming game, in which Arkansas–Pine Bluff defeated the home team FAMU 31-28. It is still unclear whether the shooting was related to the game.
Lawrence Revell, the Tallahassee police chief, stated the incident likely began as an argument between two to three individuals that escalated into gunfire.
Police have established a tip line and are urging the public to provide any information, emphasizing, "No detail is too small. Your information could be the key to bringing the suspect to justice."
John Dailey, mayor of Tallahassee, expressed condolences via X, calling the event a “horrific and deeply tragic disaster,” and offered support to the FAMU community, assuring them they are not facing this alone.
The university also issued a statement expressing sorrow over the incident, affirming that campus grounds remain safe and urging people to avoid the area to allow police to conduct their investigation.
The Gun Violence Archive defines this as a mass shooting—an incident where four or more people are shot, excluding the shooter—and notes this is the 383rd such event in the U.S. this year.
