Israel launched attacks at multiple locations across the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 8 deaths, including 3 security personnel at the Islamic University, while 7 female students were injured by shrapnel.
On 25 October 2026, Israel conducted multiple attacks across the Gaza Strip, killing at least 8 Palestinians. One of the targets was the Islamic University in Gaza City, which was hit twice within a few hours.
Reports indicate that the second airstrike on Sunday killed 3 university security guards, while an earlier drone attack injured 7 female students from shrapnel. Among the injured, one was in critical condition and was taken to a nearby field hospital.
Additionally, other fatalities occurred in different parts of Gaza: 2 people were killed in shelling in al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis in the south, with several injuries including children; 1 person died in a drone strike east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza; 1 person died in an attack on Al-Rashid Road near Hamad Hospital in the north; and later, 1 man was reported killed in Sheikh Nasser district east of Khan Yunis.
The Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees condemned the attacks on the university and called on mediators and guarantor countries of agreements between the conflicting parties to intervene and stop Israel's violations.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) stated that since the Gaza war began in October 2023, nearly 95% of higher education campuses have been damaged or destroyed, with most buildings of the Islamic University already destroyed before the latest attack.
