Saudi-led Alliance Strikes Houthi Missile Stockpiles in Retaliation for Riyadh Airport Attacks

A Saudi-led coalition force attacked Houthi missile stockpiles in Yemen after the armed group launched another assault on Riyadh's airport.

On 26 Oct 2026 GMT+7, foreign news agencies reported that the Saudi-led Arab coalition launched airstrikes destroying four missile launch pads, missile depots, and tunnels used by Houthi rebels in Yemen, following weeks of heavy Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.

Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the coalition forces, stated in a post on X on Monday that the operation focused on cutting military supply routes between areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.

The coalition's strikes came after the Houthis repeatedly attacked King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, including an early October attack that killed 13 people and injured over 300, marking the deadliest such assault Saudi Arabia has faced in over a decade.

On Sunday, the Houthis claimed attacks on three airports, energy infrastructure, oil pipelines, and airbases within a 24-hour period, while al-Maliki said on Monday that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed one missile launched at Riyadh by the Houthis.

Also on Sunday, Saudi Arabia decided to reopen King Khalid International Airport after over two weeks of closure following the major attacks, although it is operating only limited domestic and international flights.

Yahya Sari, the military spokesperson for the Houthi group, warned airlines and travelers that Riyadh's airport "remains unsafe" and is considered a "military target," adding that Saudi authorities would bear responsibility for consequences if the airport remains operational.
