U.S. police have arrested a 15-year-old teenager and charged him in connection with a shooting near a university stadium in Florida last weekend that left 12 people injured.
Foreign news agencies reported on 26 Oct 2026 that U.S. police arrested a 15-year-old suspect linked to a shooting near the Florida A&M University (FAMU) stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday night (24 Oct), resulting in 12 injuries.
The incident occurred at 8:00 p.m. local time after an alumni American football game. Local police reported that 11 people were wounded by gunfire, while another suffered an ankle injury fleeing the scene. Among the injured, six were children.
The arrested suspect, Anthony Rivers III, 15, faces 11 counts of attempted murder without premeditation and one count of firearm possession as a juvenile offender.
Police revealed the shooting followed a fight among acquaintances and indicated further arrests might occur. They stated in a press release that the injured parties appeared not to be the actual targets of the shooter.
“What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community turned into a night of fear and violence for the injured and their families,” said Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell.
“We remain committed to bringing those responsible to justice and providing answers to every family affected by this tragedy.”
