U.S. media revealed that Flavio Bolsonaro, former Brazilian presidential candidate, has left the country headed for the United States after losing the election and facing multiple lawsuits that resulted in his passport being revoked.
Foreign news agencies reported that Flavio Bolsonaro, Brazilian senator and right-wing presidential candidate, has left the country for the United States after refusing to accept defeat in the recent presidential runoff election held last weekend.
Flavio, who is facing multiple lawsuits, had his passport revoked on Tuesday (27 Oct 2026) for failing to surrender it within 24 hours as ordered by the court, in connection to money laundering charges. Meanwhile, his whereabouts remain unknown.
Several U.S. media outlets, including The New York Times, CNN, and others, cited anonymous U.S. officials who confirmed that Flavio Bolsonaro has left Brazil.
The U.S. State Department stated on Tuesday that they have issued visas for Flavio and his family and would permit their entry into the U.S., but they did not confirm whether Flavio and his family have actually traveled to the United States.
The 45-year-old Flavio Bolsonaro is under legal scrutiny in several cases, including a corruption investigation related to fundraising for a biographical film about his father, Jair Bolsonaro, the former president currently under house arrest for an attempted coup.
Flavio lost the election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva last Sunday and is about to lose his parliamentary immunity as a member of Congress amid a growing number of legal cases against him.
Although he has claimed election fraud and announced plans to legally contest the results, his political party and allies have accepted the election outcome, leaving him increasingly isolated.
The New York Times also reported that Flavio is under investigation for ties to Brazilian lawyer Willer Tomaz, who is accused of laundering over $1 billion through online gambling platforms.
Meanwhile, Flavio's brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, resides in the United States.
Some reports claim Flavio entered neighboring Argentina, but Argentina's Ministry of Security and Immigration Office denied on Tuesday that there is any record of his entry.
