Irans Supreme Leader Threatens to Expand War if the US Launches New Attacks

Iran's Supreme Leader warned they will respond without geographic limits if the US and Israel launch a new wave of attacks after next week's midterm elections.

On Saturday, 31 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, warned the US and Israel against resuming attacks on Iran after both countries threatened new military operations following key elections in Israel and the US.

In the past week, US President Donald Trump revealed he is considering new military action to "finish off Iran" after the midterm elections scheduled for Tuesday, 3 Nov GMT+7, despite his approval ratings hitting an all-time low due to the impact of oil prices.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described this as a "once-in-a-lifetime historic opportunity" to overthrow the Iranian government. However, last week's general election results in Israel remain uncertain, as his party has yet to secure a decisive majority to form a government.

On Saturday (31 Oct), Mojtaba Khamenei issued a statement saying, "If the enemy initiates military or terrorist attacks again, the Islamic Republic's army and the Iranian nation will determine the timing and conditions to end it themselves."

"Threats at every level and in all forms must be met with timely, effective responses without geographic limits," Khamenei said, adding he has ordered the military to update target lists to include "all types of tangible and intangible assets of the American and Zionist (Israeli) enemies."

At the same time, Iranian military spokesperson Mohammad Akaraminia posted on X that "If the US president restarts attacks in the region under pressure to appease the Zionists, the flames of war will definitely spread over a broader geographic area."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi warned that Iran's powerful military strikes "will cause severe damage to anyone who dares to harm our people," emphasizing there will be no more "red lines" to cross.

Previously, Iran threatened it might consider cutting undersea cables near the Strait of Hormuz if the US or Israel resumed attacks against them.

Currently, diplomatic efforts continue to seek a complete end to the US-Iran conflict through intermediaries like Qatar and Pakistan, while reports indicate US Vice President JD Vance sent a letter to Iran's security chief on Trump's orders to revive negotiations and avoid further attacks.
