King Charles III and Queen Camilla faced heavy rain while attending the parade celebrating Antigua and Barbuda's National Day, amid a large crowd of leaders and citizens.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom encountered heavy rain during their attendance at the parade commemorating Antigua and Barbuda's Independence Day on 1 November 2026 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in the city of North Sound.
Images showed the rain intensifying, soaking both royals as they stood on the ceremonial platform. Officials quickly offered Queen Camilla an umbrella to shield her from the rain, while King Charles III remained standing through the downpour. He then smiled and jokingly asked, "Where's the umbrella?" and teased that his pants were as wet as if he were growing water vegetables. Shortly after, officials provided an umbrella for him, and he proceeded to inspect the honor guard.
Both royals were welcomed by Rodney Williams, the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, before attending a national honors ceremony recognizing citizens with outstanding achievements and contributions to the country's development, which was also attended by Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne.
This royal visit coincided with Antigua and Barbuda hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from 1 to 4 November, where leaders from member countries gathered to discuss investment, development, and international cooperation.
Antigua and Barbuda were formerly British colonies before declaring independence on 1 November 1981, and this year marks the 45th anniversary of their independence.
