Russia launched a new round of airstrikes targeting a humanitarian aid distribution center in Ukraine, killing at least 24 people and injuring several more, as the ceasefire agreement in the Kherson region ended.
On Monday, 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Mykhailo Semikin, head of administration in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region, reported that Russia dropped at least nine bombs each weighing over 3,000 kilograms on a humanitarian aid distribution center in the village of Komyshuvakha. The attack killed 24 people, including two rescue workers and four police officers, injured five others, and initially left 27 people missing.
President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russia first attacked a local school used as an aid distribution point, then launched a second wave targeting a location where people were sheltering, despite knowing that villagers come there weekly to receive assistance.
“The Russian side could not possibly be unaware that local residents still living in Komyshuvakha regularly come there every week to receive humanitarian aid,” he said.
Zelensky condemned the incident as "horrific" and clear evidence that Russia does not want to ease the war's tension, even though there had recently been cooperation to evacuate civilians from the city of Oleshky in Kherson under a temporary ceasefire brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump.
“With such slaughter, Russia is sending a completely opposite signal—that it still intends to keep killing,” the Ukrainian leader said, adding that rescue workers had to halt operations multiple times because Russian drones continued attacking nearby areas.
