Zelensky Awards Highest Honor to Melania Trump

Ukrainian leader Zelensky awarded the highest honor to Melania Trump to express gratitude for her role as a mediator in achieving a ceasefire in the city of Oleshky, Kherson region, which enabled a successful evacuation of civilians.

On 4 Nov 2026, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented the Order of Princess Olha, 1st Class—the highest honor for women—to Melania Trump, the US First Lady, recognizing her significant personal dedication to humanitarian support for Ukraine.

The award followed Melania Trump's mediation between Ukraine and Russia that led to a temporary ceasefire in Oleshky, Kherson, allowing hundreds of civilians trapped there to evacuate and reunite with family in Ukrainian-controlled areas.

The US White House stated that Melania Trump initiated direct contact between the two conflicting nations, resulting in the ceasefire agreement—a diplomatic breakthrough by a US First Lady unprecedented before.

Both Russia and Ukraine have publicly thanked Melania Trump for her role as a mediator, acknowledging her efforts in facilitating this agreement.

Meanwhile, Melania has invited senior representatives from Ukraine and Russia to a meeting at the White House on Thursday, 5 Nov. Ukraine will be represented by Dmitro Lubinets, Human Rights Commissioner, and David Arakhamia, a key MP, while Russia will send Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova and businessman Kirill Dmitriev, close to the government.

Additionally, representatives from the US, Russia, and Ukraine are scheduled to hold trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi next week—the first such meeting since February—focusing on post-war security agreements and conflict de-escalation.
