Kajaphajon Udomthamphakdee, Governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), stated that the MRTA is ready to support the government's policy of "reducing citizens' expenses." From 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026, the MRTA will implement a "daily flat-rate fare card" for the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Chaloem Ratchathorn Line (MRT Purple Line), in cooperation with the State Railway of Thailand's (SRT) suburban Nakhon Witthaya and Thani Ratthaya Lines (Red Lines). The maximum fare will be capped at 40 baht per day for the general public and 30 baht per day for students. Travelers can use a MANGMOOM EMV card, MRT EMV card, or EMV Contactless card (credit or debit) for travel from the start to the end of service hours. If the total fare for the day is less than the capped amount, the actual fare will be charged. Additionally, groups entitled to state welfare benefits, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and children will continue to receive their existing fare discounts or exemptions.
The public can purchase one of three types of MANGMOOM EMV cards: general public (maximum fare 40 baht/day), students (10% discount with a maximum fare of 30 baht/day), and the elderly (50% discount). These cards are available at all stations on the MRT Purple Line and the MRT Blue Line (Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line).
This measure follows the Cabinet's resolution on 25 November 2025, approving the policy framework for setting electric train fares as proposed by the Ministry of Transport. The MRTA fully supports and will implement this policy, which aims to reduce living costs related to daily commuting for passengers traveling between home, work, or educational institutions. It offers convenience and value while encouraging the public to shift travel behavior by reducing private vehicle use and increasing public transportation usage.
