The Ministry of Energy is rapidly accelerating flood recovery efforts in the southern region, assuring that fuel transportation continues without interruption and dispatching teams to provide close assistance on site.
3 Dec 2025 GMT+7 Mr. Atthapol Rerkpiboon, Minister of Energy, outlined measures to assist and monitor the flood-affected areas in the South, stating that the Songkhla Provincial Energy Office has established an energy command center to manage flood relief efforts. This center oversees and monitors the transportation of oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to prevent shortages. Currently, 79% of gas stations across nine provinces are operational, totaling 414 out of 521 stations. The remaining stations are being restored and are expected to fully reopen within 1 to 2 weeks.
Regarding LPG filling stations, 97% or 96 out of 99 stations are operational, with full service anticipated within one week. On the electricity front, although the Wattana power plant in Songkhla has temporarily ceased operations, nearby power plants such as Khanom and Krabi are running at full capacity to meet electricity demand.
Meanwhile, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and PTT Public Company Limited have contributed a total of 47,000 relief kits, 104,000 bottles of drinking water, and PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited has provided fuel worth 8.4 million baht to support volunteer workers and the army. Additionally, 930 kilograms of LPG have been delivered for use in local kitchens. For recovery efforts, EGAT has coordinated with the Thai Volunteer Engineers Foundation to restore electrical systems in buildings and homes. PTT has also offered free oil and filter changes at five service stations in Songkhla for 500 cars and 2,500 motorcycles.
