TAT Supports 33rd SEA Games, Launches Creative Travel Guide to Boost Tourism and Cheer Across Thailand

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is actively supporting Thailand’s hosting of the 33rd SEA Games from 9 to 20 December 2025. It aims to creatively integrate the sports dimension with tourism to generate positive momentum and energize domestic travel. This also serves to reaffirm Thailand’s image as a leading regional destination ready to welcome both Thai and international tourists during the biggest sports festival in ASEAN.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibul, Governor of TAT, said the 33rd SEA Games is a platform to showcase Thailand’s potential and creative strength while preserving the country’s beautiful Thai identity. TAT therefore supports the Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ policy by actively promoting the competition alongside encouraging travel through the creation of the SEA Games Travel Guide, connecting the sports viewing experience with Thai tourism in a tangible way.

The travel guide for the SEA Games period is produced in two versions: one for Bangkok and its metropolitan area, and another for Chonburi and nearby provinces. It includes QR codes linked to Google Maps Saved Places, featuring key tourist spots in the host provinces to facilitate travel planning for both Thai and international visitors. The focus is on easy access, practical use, and extending tourism opportunities around the competition venues.

Additionally, TAT is adding vibrancy through online platforms by creating an Instagram Filter for the SEA Games that blends Thai tourism identity with the atmosphere of sports cheering. This increases public and tourist engagement and can be accessed via Instagram: 1672TravelBuddy. Promotion will continue through KOLs and influencers, along with content featuring Thai athlete heroes to generate positive social momentum.

For facilitation, TAT is organizing welcome activities for ASEAN athletes at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and setting up information booths at the opening ceremony. These booths will present over 60 tourist destinations in the host provinces and offer Instagram Filter activities where visitors can receive an Amazing Thailand souvenir fan, enhancing participation throughout the games.

This year’s competition features athletes from 11 countries competing in 50 sports and 3 demonstration sports, with 574 gold medals at stake. The opening ceremony on 9 December 2025 at Rajamangala National Stadium will convey the theme “WE ARE ONE,” reflecting the unity and collaborative spirit of ASEAN.

TAT believes that hosting this event will not only leave a strong impression in sports but also drive the tourism economy, stimulating spending on accommodations, dining, transportation, and local activities. It will also reinforce Thailand’s potential in Sports Tourism on both regional and global stages sustainably.
