
The Department of Livestock Development is urgently delivering dry hay, animal feed, medical supplies, and veterinary teams to assist farmers along the Thai-Cambodian border continuously.
Major General Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has urgently ordered the Department of Livestock Development to accelerate assistance to livestock farmers along the Thai-Cambodian border following conflict situations affecting residents, farmers, livestock, and many animals.
Dr. Somchuan Rattanamangklanon, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, revealed that the Department of Livestock Development has hastened aid to livestock farmers and care for animals in affected areas covering six provinces: Buriram, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Trat, and Sa Kaeo. This involves 20 districts, 196 subdistricts, and 1,704 villages. A preliminary survey as of 9 December 2025 GMT+7 found a total of 5,599,993 animals affected, including 432,585 cattle, 90,672 buffaloes, 122,716 pigs, 23,959 goats and sheep, over 4.7 million poultry, 148,647 dogs, and 65,139 cats. So far, 432 animals have been reported dead or missing in Ubon Ratchathani and Surin provinces, mostly poultry, cattle, and buffaloes.
In the urgent relief phase, the Department of Livestock Development has distributed 11,000 kilograms of dry hay, 8,000 kilograms of dog and cat food, and 1,000 kilograms of cattle feed, as well as providing dog and cat cages, animal health promotion kits (including minerals, antibiotics, vitamins). Thirty animals have been evacuated from risk areas, and mobile veterinary teams continue to provide care. Additionally, dry hay bales have been supported by the Army Livestock Department, with plans to deliver an additional 111,000 kilograms of animal feed for ongoing assistance. The department holds daily emergency operations center meetings to monitor the situation and ensure timely support both during the crisis and in the post-conflict recovery phase.
